Masks on, prototypes up, the gauntlet nears

Prototyping Before the Gauntlet

Multiverse West was about to begin, with a week of AGI prototyping, a masking protocol for high-risk guests, and an update on families in Rafah.

This issue is dressed as Post-Punk

Liz spent the week before Multiverse West settling in: Gene arrived, her things came out of storage, and she found more places for arriving students to sleep. The group adopted a High Risk Covid Protocol because of high-risk guests, with outdoor spaces for hacking.

The week's plan was to build AGI prototypes together in the Monday to Wednesday morning sessions, open to Traveler Program students and invited guests. One-on-ones were limited to Traveler Program students for the week.

On the Families in Gaza campaign, two families had been gotten out and three were trapped in Rafah with no word on what had happened to them. Prompt Engineering was announced for July 15.

It is... time to fight. Avengers, assemble.

06/30/2024 Multiverse School Weekly Newsletter

Hey Multiverse Crew,

Next week is a Special Week, as Multiverse West begins, and Hot Singularity Summer continues. Last week Gene arrived and I got everything from storage moved into my place, and got a few more spots for folks to sleep on as they arrive.

I've been away from San Francisco since 2018 and I swear guys I looked away for one second and suddenly the whole place is overrun by fscking N@zis. What happened? It is... time to fight. Avengers, assemble.

We're adopting the [[High Risk Covid Protocol]], because we have high risk guests. If you don't plan on masking in public with sufficient advance notice please plan on masking at the events. We've also got outside areas when we're getting together to hack, so don't worry.

During the week this week we'll build some AGI prototypes together. Also, Liz will get a little bit of rest and socializing before The Main Gauntlet of Travel and Events begins.

Due to the weird week, I'm scaling back 1:1s to Traveler Program Students Only this week.

Don't forget:

Families in Gaza need our help.

We got two families out, and 3 are trapped in Rafah, we don't know what happened to them.

Prompt Engineering starts July 15th

This is for folks who are either already programmers, or have attended Using Large Language Models and feel comfortable asking ChatGPT or another language model to write code for them. We also have a fair number of programmers who are happy to help you get through the bugs- that's what we do, we fix bugs.

Multiverse Students Looking for Work

Everyone here has learned the cutting-edge Gen AI stuff we teach here, but now they're looking for work! Not everyone here has a network and could use your help! Please do me a favor and help these folks out with some introductions! You can hire them away BUT you are depriving me of their brain so it better be for a lot of moolah.

Here they are again in a different order! Order implies nothing, so I'm trying to mix it up every week. They're all fantastic, their main skill overlap is Generative AI.

  1. Roan Looking for CyberSecurity Red Team (pen testing) work, Gen AI work, working with me on The Swarm of Hacking AIs, has Python and CyberSecurity in spades, and TAs at The Multiverse School
  2. Liss McCabe Senior developer, looking for full-stack work in Ruby, Python, React, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering
  3. Razi Alawamleh Looking for Front-End (React & React Native) and Back-End work, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering, and does a great job with Product thinking.
  4. Cameron Sweeney Looking for Back-End (Python, Math and Stats), Data, Gen AI, Prompt Engineering,
  5. Kellyn von Arx Looking for UX, UI, and Product design, Gen AI. Has some Python & Git experience, some Prompt Engineering experience
  6. Mea Isaacs Novel Scale Senior Developer with Robotics and CyberSecurity looking for new opportunities changing what is possible with technology.
  7. Gene Hwang Jr. Dev and Researcher looking for Data and Backend roles. Gene is our most prolific TA who is absolutely instrumental to me in keeping eyes out for new Gen AI research.

Upcoming Tracks and Classes · Prompt Engineering - Spring Cohort

Missed Intro to Agents? Here it is again, split up for convenience:

Agent Engineering - OpenAI Toolchain starts Tuesday, July 09 05:00 PM

OpenAI Assistants - How they work, and how to use their tools, and how to define your own.

Agent Engineering - Open Source Tool Calling Starts Tuesday, July 30 05:00 PM

Open source tool calling has eluded us for too long! Join us, and understand how to get agentic behavior from Open Source Tools.

Prompt Engineering - Summer Cohort

Prompt Engineering starts Monday, July 15 02:00 PM

Building something with AI? Want to understand how to get the best performance out of a pipeline, or how to build an application? Want the underlying foundation required to build an agent? We'll dive deep into the Prompt Engineering techniques that you'll need to get the results you want. As an added bonus, the techniques we teach you should help if you have to get results from humans too.

This is for people who can code or people who can use AI to code for them- either way, we'll go over some code, so being able to follow along as someone else tells you what code does is really the prerequisite here. We will show you how to automate conversations and pipelines.
